Information we handle

You can browse published entries without an account. If you sign in, we receive the email address or Apple sign-in identifier used to verify your account, plus the public pen name you choose. An Apple private relay address may stand in for your personal email. We also keep the version and acceptance time of the Terms you agree to when joining or accepting an update.

When you participate, we store your definitions, optional examples and parts of speech, votes, saved words, reports, hidden contributors, and the account and moderation records needed to run the daily game. We also record a small set of activity events—opening a day, saving a definition or vote, and viewing a result—to understand whether the daily loop works. Those events do not contain your definition text, email, or pen name.

Our hosting and account providers may process technical request data, such as your IP address, device or browser information, and the time of a request, to deliver and protect the service.

If you use Contact & support, we store your reply email, chosen subject, and message in a private support inbox. A signed-in request may be linked to your account. A one-way token derived from the request source helps limit repeated submissions; the raw network address is not stored in the support inbox. When email forwarding is configured, a copy of your support message is also delivered to the Wordy operator’s private email inbox.

What others can see

During voting, approved definitions appear without author names or live vote totals. After a round finishes, the winning definition and its author’s pen name can appear in the public dictionary and shared word pages. Your email address, individual votes, saved words, and unpublished contribution history are not shown in public entries. Reports are sent to moderators; reporting alone does not remove a definition. Support messages are visible to Wordy moderators, not to other members.

A public entry can be copied or shared by other people. Removing it from Wordy cannot recall copies that they made elsewhere.

Who helps run Wordy

Wordy uses Supabase for accounts and the game database and Vercel to serve the website. If you choose Sign in with Apple when it is available, Apple also handles that sign-in. Sign-in emails pass through the configured email delivery service. Google may handle delivery of support-message copies to the operator’s inbox. These providers process information to provide those functions. Wordy does not currently run third-party advertising or sell personal information.

Merchandise checkout is not live. If you choose to buy a product when it opens, Fourthwall will run the store checkout and handle payment, shipping, fulfillment, and order support. It will collect the buyer and delivery information needed for the order under its own privacy policy. Wordy may see order information in its Fourthwall shop account to manage products and resolve support questions. The Wordy game does not collect card details or shipping addresses. We will update this notice if the purchase data flow changes before sales begin.

What stays on your device

The website uses sign-in cookies to keep you signed in. It can keep an unfinished definition draft and a random activity identifier in your browser’s local storage, and a ballot selection in session storage. A selected ballot option is not a saved vote until you confirm it. Clearing browser storage may remove an unsent draft or sign you out; it does not delete information already submitted to Wordy.

Retention and deletion

Wordy keeps account and game records while your account is active and they are needed to run the service. First-party activity events are purged after 90 days. If you delete your account, the current flow removes its profile, definitions, individual votes, saved words, hidden-contributor list, and account-level activity. A winning entry you authored is withdrawn and its definition and credit are removed; the word spelling may remain as an unavailable entry.

Anonymous contest totals and essential operational records may remain. Backups and provider logs follow their own retention cycles. Their exact periods, and any additional records needed for future purchases, must be settled before external release.

A daily retention job deletes support messages once they are 90 days past closure, or 180 days past submission if sooner. A signed-in request linked to your account is also removed if you delete the account. An anonymous request cannot be matched to an account automatically.

Your choices

You can review your contributions in Profile, remove saved words, hide or unhide a contributor, and delete your account. Account deletion requires a fresh email code and a confirmation. Signing out clears that account’s local drafts from the browser. The random activity identifier stays on the device until you clear the site’s browser storage.

You can use Contact & support for a privacy question. Additional identity checks and region-specific request steps still need to be settled before external release.

Age, changes, and contact

Wordy is intended for people 13 and older. The current web sign-up does not verify age and there is no parental-consent flow. The age gate and regional requirements must be reviewed before inviting external beta members.

We will update this page if our practices change, including when merchandise or new providers are added. The public Contact & support form receives messages without displaying a personal operator email. The operating entity and first launch regions remain to be finalized.
